Background
The Wawa webcam site is a result of a partnership between the Superior East Community Development Corporation, Wawa's Mayor, Council and municipal staff, the Wawa EDC, Michipicoten High School Teachers and students; JV Info Tech Solutions (Wawa) and Naturally Superior Adventures.
We particularly wish to thank the Wawa crew including Ron Rody, Lori Johnston, Mike Gautier, Bill Chapman, Maury O,Neill, Dan Friya, Guy Pellitier, Matt Larrett, Jason Morrison, Josh Jarrell, Tarmo Poldmaa, Christine Rask, John and Virginia McDonald and website & marketing wiz Megan Romano.
Why a Wawa Webcam?
First we wanted to effectively use the Internet to draw ideal tourists to our area to spend money on our local businesses. The three webcams provide a fantastic visual signature of Wawa, a great community surrounded by wonderful opportunities for: sea kayaking, canoeing, hiking, sight seeing, ATVing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, photography, bird-watching, kite flying and more.
Next, we wanted to provide residents, current and past, with compelling and current images of the natural beauty that surrounds our community that we sometimes take for granted. We also want to directly promote local tourism business by offering tourists direct links to businesses that offer places to go and things to do while in Wawa. By actively promoting paid advertising from relevant local businesses, we will make enough money to keep the equipment operational and the website current.
Finally we wanted to develop local webcam and website development expertise and to transfer some of this knowledge and real Internet experience to Michipicoten High School students.
This site is designed to work in concert with the existing www.wawa.cc official tourism site so links between these two sites and between other Wawa based websites have been made easy.
How to advertise with us.
Note that the purpose of advertising on this site is to draw tourists into our community. Therefore we actively seek advertisers who can answer the two main questions a tourists ask.
1.. “Where do I stay?”
2. “What do I do?”
Tourists might also ask: “Where do I get my busted sled fixed?” or “Where can I get a great burger?” . Thus we also seek businesses whose services and products are of interest to tourists.
Web Page Banner Adverts You can provide or we will create a banner advertisement highlighting your product/service based on an image and text you supply in digital format. Note that we will design banners to fit with the aesthetics of the site.

Budget about $30 for page set-up and about $100 for a simple single page that includes your logo, contact information, 2 -3 images and text (all provided by you to us in digital format).

Interactive Google Map Page
Appearing on every web page will be a link to an interactive Google map site that locates the web cams along with tourism sites ie, sandy beach, Tourist Info Centre, Voyageur Hiking trail, etc.
Your tourism business can also be located on the interactive map along with a roll-over feature that provides visitors more information and a link to your website. The number of locations will be limited to ensure an uncluttered map experience for site visitors.
MHS Informercial Page
This infomercial page is a pilot project for the business class of Michipicoten High School. The purpose is give local students marketing, sales and creative web text writing experience. Students will promote advertising on the Wawa-webcam site, make a sale, prepare your infomercial, secure your approval, upload the information to the website and finally collect your money.
All revenue generated from this activity will be directed to Michipicoten High School for use towards special projects fundraising.
MHS Tourism Infomercials Cost:
